چکیده
Stress caused due to examinations during any degree program and at educational level has been observed all levels so the present study was conducted investigate stress related final examination in undergraduate students with reference their academic performance. Fifty-four volunteers were divided into three groups, ( n = 18), according performance, that is, Group A low CGPA (⩽2.99), B average (⩾3.00–3.59) C high (⩾3.60) blood samples (3 ml) taken three-time intervals, pre-examination, post time interval, Department of Physiology, Government College University, Faisalabad. Anthropometric parameters like height, weight, pressure, heart rate body mass index (BMI) also determined. Blood cortisol thyroid hormones (triiodothyronine, T3; thyroxine, T4) stimulating hormone (TSH)) measured using ELISA based technique. Arylesterase activity (ARE) paraoxonase (PON-1) colorimetric method. The results showed overall increased pre-examination intervals as compared interval while PON-1 ARE significantly p < 0.05) decreased. With regards T4 TSH, a non-significant difference pre interval. It could be concluded from current semester system imposed group compare this find more already obtained other studied groups. Although, correlation between performance found but large scale trial multiple institutions throughout Pakistan is required exclude socioeconomic factors because belongs developing country.

The relationship between serum cortisol, adrenaline, blood glucose and lipid profile of undergraduate students under examination stress.
BACKGROUND Stress is an extremely adaptive phenomenon in human beings and cortisol is a known stress hormone. Examination has been described as a naturalistic stressor capable of affecting human health. OBJECTIVES To estimate the relationship between serum cortisol, adrenaline, fasting blood glucose (FBG) and lipid profile during examination stress. METHODS Two hundred and eight (208) appar...
متن کاملPARAOXONASE AND ARYLESTERASE ACTIVITY AMONG HYPERCHOLESTEROLEMIC PATIENTS
Human serum paraoxonase (PON) associated with high density lipoprotein (HDL) , has been postulated to have a role in protecting low-density lipoprotein (LDL) against oxidative damage, which has led to the proposal that PON is an anti-atherogenic and anti-inflammatory enzyme. It has genetic polymorphism at the 191 (R ->Q) and two alloenzymes A and B and three phenotypes A, B, and AB. We exa...
متن کاملArylesterase Phenotype-Specific Positive Association Between Arylesterase Activity and Cholinesterase Specific Activity in Human Serum
CONTEXT Cholinesterase (ChE) specific activity is the ratio of ChE activity to ChE mass and, as a biomarker of exposure to cholinesterase inhibitors, has a potential advantage over simple ChE activity. OBJECTIVE To examine the association of several potential correlates (serum arylesterase/paraoxonase activity, serum albumin, sex, age, month of blood collection, and smoking) with plasma ChE s...
متن کاملSerum Paraoxonase/Arylesterase Activity and Oxidative Stress Status in Children with Metabolic Syndrome
OBJECTIVE This study aimed to measure paraoxonase/arylesterase activities and to evaluate the total oxidant and antioxidant capacities in obese children and in children with metabolic syndrome (MetS). METHODS A total of 151 children of comparable ages (13.23±1.96 years, 13.45±1.85 years and 13.95±1.31 years) were enrolled in the study. Forty of these were children with MetS, 55 were obese and...
متن کاملParaoxonase and arylesterase activity in bladder cancer.
OBJECTIVE Oxidative stress is the main pathogenetic mechanism in bladder cancer among many other causes. We aimed to investigate whether a potential relationship exists between bladder cancer and the activities of paraoxonase (PON1) and arylesterase (ARE) enzymes. MATERIAL AND METHODS The study included 56 patients with bladder cancer, and 57 healthy individuals. The relationships between enz...
